Article Summary

Inventory Allocation

Allocation sets allow customers to earmark their inventory for specific customers and/or projects.  Allocation lives at the item level of all item types (BASIC, SERIAL, DATE, LOT) in the WithoutWire system.  Users are able to indicate the allocation of specific lines on inbound/outbound orders or at the header level of the same order.  Allocation sets may include up to one parent allocation for users to correlate projects to customers.  For example, a specific customer may be set up as a parent allocation to three project-specific allocations.

Types of Allocation

Basic allocation: Basic allocation requires that the allocation of the inventory being used on an outbound order directly matches that of the line or header allocation for the order.

Advanced allocation: Advanced allocation allows the user to pick unallocated inventory to an outbound order whereas that order has a line/header allocation set.  This action stamps the inventory picked with the corresponding line/header allocation once picked to the order.

Setup and Maintenance

The WithoutWire system has a specific "Allocation Set Maintenance" screen under the "System Maintenance" screen of the web console.  Users are able to manually add or edit allocation sets here.  This includes correlating allocations sets to parent allocations, changing the allocation type, and marking allocations as inactive.

- WithoutWire can be configured to allow/disallow mixing allocation sets within a bin location.

- Users are able to determine their default allocation type with a configuration in the web console under "System Maintenance" -> "Configuration settings" -> "Inventory Operation Settings" -> "Default Allocation Type".

- Users can also determine if the system will allow modification to specific inventory allocation on the mobile application.  This configuration can be found at "System Maintenance" -> "Configuration settings" -> "Inventory Operation Settings" -> "Allow Modifying Inventory Allocation on Mobile".

- Users are able to curate their mobile experience by utilizing the "Enable Setting User Allocation Context" configuration located in "System Maintenance" -> "Configuration settings" -> "Miscellaneous Settings" -> "Enable Setting User Allocation Context".  This will filter the mobile device to only show specific orders related to the allocation chosen for that user.
